Golf Club Carimate was created in 1955 together with a large group of residential villas which represents now its main feature. Already at that time there was the idea of considering a golf course as element of development of a new concept of leaving in the country. Carimate is nowadays an example for any real estate development based on good taste and respect of the environment.

On the first hills, about half-way between Como and Milan, the village of Carimate just by appears by the church-steeple and the embattled tower of the castle. The rest of the village, including the 700 villas which were built at the same time of the golf course, is submerged by the green of the trees which have been surrounding it for centuries.

The modern history of Carimate started in 1955 when Baroness Arnaboldi Cazzaniga the last descendant of a noble family who lived there at the and of the 18th century sold to Società Generale Immobiliare of Rome the castle together with the attached park.

The extension was very large, the project was that of developing a quarter of residential villas, keeping as central reference the ancient castle. Part of the estate 60 hectares was destined to become a golf course. It is very important, as ever , to start in the right way, and if Carimate is what we can see today, this is due to the clear ideas which were at the basis of its creation. There were limitations as to the use of colours, and every project to be approved by a special commission.

At that time Carimate was an example for all European architects on account of several advanced solutions. Further architects realized villas for their clients, while the castle, restored on the basis of a first project, was as a Club House, while the final construction had to be finished.

The project of the Club House was entrusted in in 1960 to Mr. Vico Magistretti, while in 1994 Mr. Gregorio Caccia Dominioni enlarged and modernized it, in accordance to the philosophy of the club. The project of the golf course was realized in 1961 by Mr. Piero Mancinelli, was successively improved in1966 and completed in 2005.

Today Golf Club Carimate is considered as one of the most attractive and pleasant places in Lombardy.

The various Presidents who leaded the Club, Count Gian Tommaso Buraggi from 1962 to 1975, Mr. Carlo Rombelli from 1976 to 1981, Mr. Sergio Delli Zotti from 1986 to 2002, Mr. Piero Andrea Cioffi from 2002 to 2005, were able to manage and develop the club with a very clever polity of expansion and improvement. Since 2005 Mr. Giuseppe Crippa follow the same policy of his predecessors however with further new interventions.

The Golf Course of Carimate is a naturally wavy course, surrounded by a great variety of very ancient and valuable trees, as for instance maples, birches, carpinus, chestnut-trees, cedars, beeches, Mediterranean cypresses, walnut-trees, pines, ailanthus altissima, acer negundo, forsythians, gleditsia tricantos, liquidambar styraciflua. Every hole has the name of the tree that characterizes it, i.e. one of the ten thousand kinds that form the extraordinary botanical patrimony of the Carimate Golf Course .

It is a pleasant course, very technical, not too long for the middle player, but offers the right difficulties to interest the professionals , thanks to rather difficult drivers and fast greens.

At Golf Club Carimate found place national competitions as the 3rd Ladies Open 1989, and international ones as Woolmark Ladies 1st Italian Mach-Play Championship in 1991, as well as 10 national Championships.

Golf Club Carimate is strongly engaged in the environment policy, finding out solutions which do not hurt the environment, and thanks to this, it won European Prizes.
